About

I’m CEO and co-founder of the non-profit research institution Blockchain Research Lab based in Hamburg, Germany.

Against the background that research on the topic of blockchain should be interdisciplinary, I co-founded the non-profit Blockchain Research Lab, which promotes independent science and research on blockchain and the publication of the results in the form of scientific papers and contributions to conferences and other media. As a non-profit organization, it aims to further the general understanding of the blockchain technology and to analyze resulting challenges, opportunities and socio-economic consequences.

My research focus can be assigned to two main areas: 1) finance and 2) technology and innovation. Of particular research interest are issues pertaining to blockchain technology and crypto assets, such as phenomena in digital and decentralized markets, organizations or ecosystems, or the interplay of social, economic, and technological factors in the context of the technology and its applications.

I studied business administration at the University of Cologne, the Technical University of Clausthal and the University of Hamburg and received my doctorate in business administration from the University of Hamburg.
